Urgent Bulletin

Veronica novena begins March 19
Your heart-felt prayers needed

Mary Rose "modeling" the SMWA apron after the July 30, 2006 Sunday Holy Hour

We have startling news to report: Mary Rose Bauer, the 15-year old niece of Michael Mangan, and daughter of Cape Cod, Mass., organizers, Tom and Mary Bauer, was diagnosed with an infiltrative brain tumor on Ash Wednesday. Brain surgery is scheduled for Monday, April 2 at Children’s Hospital in Boston, Mass. To further complicate matters, the tumor is located deep in the left temporal lobe of the brain and in a particularly sensitive area.
And so, we turn to our extended family of SMWA, devoted and generous in spirit as you are, to implore you for your thoughts, prayers and Masses that are desperately needed now for young Mary Rose, who was named after Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers, a title of singular distinction given by the Eternal Father for these end-times.

Calling all Baysiders

And most importantly, please join us wherever you are, for the 9-day novena to Veronica of the Cross that will begin at the Monday, March 19 Vigil of St. Joseph. Many of you already have Veronica’s prayer (see below) which was composed by Vincent McDonnell, Vigil Coordinator.

Prayer for the Glorification of Veronica of the Cross

O JESUS OF MERCY, full of charity, victim for sinners, so impelled by love for us that Thou willed to die on the cross, I humbly beseech Thee to glorify in Heaven and on earth the servant of God named by Thee, “Veronica of the Cross.”

LOVING THEE so much, she participated in Thy sufferings and labored faithfully for the glory of God, for the salvation of souls and especially as a victim for Thy priests.

GRANT HER the wonderful power of attracting to Thee a great number of souls who will one day praise Thee eternally in Heaven.

WITH CONFIDENCE, I beseech Thee to grant me through her intercession the grace of [here mention your request], which I fervently desire. Amen.

Veronica of the Cross, pray for us.

Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be

Together, Mary Rose and her sister, Catherine, sung last year’s Anniversary Mass of Veronica of the Cross.

Massive cure sought

The intention, of course, is for Mary Rose’s complete recovery, but even more, we are beseeching the Good Father through Our Lady of the Roses and Her faithful servant, Veronica of the Cross, for a massive cure of Mary Rose–that is, this tumor disappear miraculously before the operation.
Besides the obvious benefit for Mary Rose and family, this would bring glory to Our Lady’s cause and spark a great surge of interest and renewed hope in the Mission.
        Just what we need!
Right now we are gathering as many Lenten acts of love and prayer as we can get so that Veronica of the Cross can obtain for us the humanly impossible: the disappearance of the brain tumor.

Prayer moves mountains

Please spread the word to all other devotees in your area, as well as other people of good will, to join us in this novena prayer. There is power in numbers. And especially with all of us in unison, how can the Eternal Father not be moved by the special love and dedication of the Baysiders!
Good Lord willing, Mary Rose and family will be present on the holy grounds for the first day of the novena as they are attending the St. Joseph Vigil on March 19.
It should be noted that Mary Rose is facing this trial very calmly and courageously and is resigned wholeheartedly to God’s Will. You can send greetings, well-wishes and Masses to the SMWA address below or your thoughts by email to smwa@smwa.org. Either way we will pass all on to Mary Rose and family.

Solemn vows for Sr. Therese

On a more joyous note, Mary Rose’s oldest sister, Sr. Therese of Merciful Love, O.C.D., a dear member of the SMWA family, will be making her solemn profession of vows on Sunday, May 27 at the Carmel in Nebraska (Lincoln Diocese). You will recall, before her entrance, Sr. Therese testified on St. Michael’s Radio to the manifold graces received at Our Lady’s Shrine and one of the petitions pinned to her heart is for the “approbation of Bayside.” She has invited all devotees to her espousal to Jesus and hopes that as many as possible can attend. More details will follow.
