Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers
Preparing the excedra for tonight's Rosary Vigil. The Shrine must be set up and broken down for every Rosary Vigil and Holy Hour.
"Immaculate Mary" is sung as Shrine guards Chester Polak (l) and George Rehrl carry Our Lady to the excedra.
At the base of the statue of Our Lady of the Roses is seen the Virgin's foot crushing the serpent's head as foretold in Gen. 3:15. The serpent has the forbidden fruit in its mouth which he used to deceive Eve. The Virgin Mary is the second Eve and co-Redemtrix with Her Son Jesus.
Before the statue is adorned, a short prayer is said, a procedure that Chester, Henry Polak and George (r) follow for every Rosary Vigil and Holy Hour. They kiss the statue's hands as a sign of reverence.
Henry adornes Our Lady with a beautiful new mantle hand sewn and donated by Our Lady's Workers of Northern California.
The elevation of Our Lady
Chester places a heavy weight across the bar inside the base to secure Our Lady.
George prepares the Vatican flag. The American flag and the Vatican flag are both displayed at the Rosary Vigils and Holy Hours.
Antonia Rehrl prepares the roses
Voila! Let the prayers begin.
