Rosary Vigil
7:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Welcome to Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers Shrine staffed and directed by St Michael's World Apostolate. On her feast day, we bring St. Theresa to stand with Our Lady.

As you may know, St. Theresa launched the whole Bayside Mission in June 1968 when she approached Veronica of the Cross with her hallmark scent of roses after Veronica prayed for the dying senator, Bobby Kennedy. For two years, this popular Carmelite saint would pave the way for the apparitions of Jesus and Mary by instructing and preparing Veronica in her home.  Through our saintly seer, the Little Flower gave numerous poem-messages to the  world.

A crowd of nearly 200 pilgrims praying the Rosary
At 9 p.m. the invocation of the blessing of Jesus and Mary: "All who are able to kneel, please kneel, and with faith lift your Rosary up to Heaven and Jesus and Mary will bless us."

James Donohue, Shrine guard and Vice President of St Michael's World Apostolate, leads a Rosary.
Rosaries, medals and other sacramentals are available at our service area.
Michael Mangan, President of St Michael's World Apostolate, interviews Susanna Bauer of Cape Cod, Mass, his niece and godchild, for St. Michael's Radio Program. Susanna will be entering a traditional Carmelite cloister on October 13 following her special vocation as a bride of Christ.
Vigil Coordinator, Vincent McDonnell, asked Susanna as a special honor to lead the final Rosary of the Vigil. Susanna said she was nervous but was very happy to have led the Rosary.
At the end of the Rosary Vigil, Vincent McDonnell (rear) and James Donohue lead the pilgrims in a hymn to Archangel Michael.
With a vigil candle raised, Vincent leads the invocation:
Mary, light of the World, pray for us
Our Lady of the Roses, pray for us
Mary, Help of Mothers, pray for us.

After the pilgrims venerate the crucifix kissed by Our Lady and say the final prayers, some devotees and Shrine guards stand with Susanna for one of her last photos.
