Sunday Holy Hour for priests

March 14, 2004

Welcome to Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers Shrine, staffed and directed by St Michael's World Apostolate.  Look for the SMWA banner when you come.

About 125 strong praying for the Pope and priests on a raw windy day with the temperature in the 30s.

A 15 decade Rosary, litanies and traditional hymns are prayed and sung during each Holy Hour.

Following the Holy Hour, over 100 pilgrims viewed Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" in a group showing arranged by St Michael's World Apostolate.  After the movie, we all returned to Our Lady's workshop for a complimentary luncheon of fine home-cooking.  We converted our pressroom into a dining hall.

Michael Mangan, SMWA pres., with the head chef, Margarita Reyes.  A big thanks to Margarita who donated the food and gave so generously of her time and talent.

Michael speaking on the Passion movie.  All the pilgrims were deeply moved with the film and said it was a powerful gripping experience.  We heartily recommend it. It's a whole new perspective on Jesus' (and Mary's) unspeakable suffering.

Michael, with Thomas Bauer, Mass. organizer, is showing the beautiful book that has the color photography of the Passion movie that we are offering for only $19.95--a great keepsake. Interestingly, in this opening photo, Mel Gibson is wearing the trademark Brown scapular that we promote and is produced by our California organizers, Mr. and Mrs William Dykes.

The faithful respond with honor and pride
